Curatorial notes: This was the last research paper that I had to write during my senior year. I was inspired to analyze how persuasion in advertising had been used during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For my assignment, I looked at videos
that I saw on social media and addressed which persuasive tactics were used.
I used writings from my class textbook as well as scholarly works to find accurate background information to support my analysis. My outside sources are cited using APA format. If I were to work on it further, I would do a deeper analysis on the psychological affects on those who are persuaded and find other examples of PSAs issued to promote social distancing.

Curatorial notes: I wrote this paper for my Presidential Scholars senior thesis. Since I spend a lot of time on social media, I began to notice a lot of mental health related posts. I was struck by the fact that people were talking about their diagnoses so openly. I found this to be a refreshing aspect of social media that not many people discuss in regard to mental health. I began witnessing posts that reflected an online community of support, whereas the media is crowded with articles about how bad social media is for one's mental health. This paper is a take on a different narrative. Upon working on this paper further, I would look closer at my analysis to make sure my points are connect back to my thesis in a strong way. I would also try to write in a more straight-forward manner and see if I could edit it down.
